Another good way to playing Gameboy Advance ROM games is to get a DS Flash Card and a EZ-Flash 3-in-1 Expansion Pack that adds GBA ROM support to the NDS and DS Lite. (DSi is not supported as there is no GBA aka Slot-2 on the DSi and also the Chips used to add backward compatibility with GBA games are missing in DSi. So for Gameboy fans I say do not buy DSi.

GBA emulator for DSi

Many folks have come here looking for a way to play GBA roms on the new Nintendo DSi console with R4 or another DSi Flash Card. At this point there is no GBA emulator for DSi. It is also not known if Nintendo will offer GBA games as a DSiWARE for download to SD card. Maybe by hacking the firmware it will be possible to run GBA roms from the SD slot, but that is only a speculation on my part. Playing GBA roms on DSi with a flash card could be another possibility, but as far as I know GBA mode is removed from the latest DS incarnation, so a full featured emulator will have to be made for it.
